“A life of wellness starts with healing”
◇ In my early 30s trying to survive the daily grind of city life, I was frustrated that what I wanted from life for myself and for others was falling short of the reality that was around me. I felt physically and emotionally exhausted and numb. Something had to give because I couldn’t give anymore. After witnessing the repercussions that can occur when self-care is not a daily focus in individuals’ lives, my life included, I began journeying back to finding what it means to be well- body, mind, and spirit. After speaking with a life coach, I came to understand that the compassion that I had to reconnect with first was with myself. I learned I had to let go of stressing over things I could not change and work on the things I could change- myself and my perspective.
◇ Having suffered with back and shoulder pain for over ten years and simply working through the pain, I saw multiple physicians who prescribed me the same things at each referral- xrays and pills for pain. Left with a sense of void from these experiences and the interactions I had observed and often times had been a part of as a health care provider, I knew there was more to health than what I was experiencing.
◇ I recalled how my father integrated treatments like acupuncture, cupping, massage, sauna, prayer, and meditation into his health care. Whenever I did not feel well, my parents would place their hands over me and would pray that I would feel better. I always felt a sense of ease, peace, less stressed and decreased discomfort. Remembering this, I knew I had to reconnect to my roots of holistic healing. I invested time to caring for myself through regular massage, acupuncture, chiropractor visits, yoga, prayer, meditation and living mindfully.
◇ After over a decade of experience as a Certified Emergency Nurse across the U.S., I returned to NYC and continued my Post-Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas to study Holistic Nursing at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. At PCOM I learned the power of healing presence, active listening, mindfulness, centering, meditation, guided imagery, cognitive behavior therapy, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy, M-technique, biofeedback, Ayurveda, homeopathy, auriculotherapy, natural herbs and supplements. One of my main integrative modalities, Healing Touch, I studied under the training of Healing Beyond Borders and Healing Touch New York. Under Reiki Masters/Teachers Manu Del Prete and Aki Hirata Baker, I learned the healing art of Reiki . I became an Integrative Health and Wellness Nurse Coach under the International Nurse Coach Association (INCA), accredited by American Holistic Nurses' Association. I learned Clinical Nutrition with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) in collaboration with INCA. As an Integrative Health and Wellness Coach, I incorporate holistic modalities such as deep listening, breath awareness, sound therapy, art therapy, guided imagery and journaling during coaching sessions to facilitate an individual to connect with their inner awareness and wisdom to make healthy life decisions.
I am incredibly grateful for every situation and person I’ve met along my journey because it has led me to where I am now- closer to my true self and here with you. Now that you’ve heard my story, I am looking forward to getting to know you and hear all about you!
