Japanese Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine
I am a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the Bay Area. The style I practice is Traditional Japanese Acupuncture, which is a style known for its gentle needling and non-insertive techniques such as massage and moxibustion (the burning of mugwort wool near the skin). Along with my private practice I am a guest lecturer at the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College of Berkeley and volunteer at the Charlotte Maxwell Integrative Cancer Care Center serving low-income women with cancer.
The best way to sum up my philosophy of care is by likening my role to that of a gardener - through acupuncture and herbal medicine I help to tend to the weeds, advise how to enrichen the soil and how much water and sunlight is needed, and at the end of the day it's the garden's job to grow. On any given week you have one hour with me and 167 without, so my goal is to help you optimize your time outside of treatment to help you reach your health goals sustainably.
On your first visit we will do an in-depth intake based on your initial intake form - I will ask many questions that are seemingly unrelated but in the end they paint a full picture of what may be contributing to your dis-ease. From there I will check your pulse, abdomen, and tongue then perform a treatment based on findings and progress. At the end of the treatment we will design a treatment plan that fits your health goals, lifestyle, and budget.
I believe in a world where no one is limited by their circumstances, especially not their health. By helping others along their path to health I am contributing to a world where everyone has an opportunity to thrive without limits.
