I came to the practice of Chinese Medicine as a result of a life-long desire to become a health care provider, coupled with an equally long search for a comprehensive healing system that would incorporate the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the body. My undergraduate science education led me to understand that Western medicine, although incredibly advanced in some areas, lacked an understanding of how the physical component of the body integrated with the other facets of being human. I discovered acupuncture at the Bastyr Clinic in Seattle, Washington in 1996, and it was love at first sight. I subsequently pursued and completed my Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York where I studied acupuncture, herbology, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Tui Na (Chinese massage).
The program culminates in a one-year internship in the school's very busy and comprehensive clinic where I was able to work side by side with acupuncturists from all over the world. Since my undergraduate education is in Western science, I am able to see both the limitations and advantages of Eastern and Western medicine alike. I believe that Chinese Medicine is a highly effective and practical medicine that can be of tremendous use in helping to heal not only the physical body, but also the disconnect that many of us feel from each other and from nature. I treat women, men, and children with a wide range of conditions in my acupuncture and Chinese herbal practice in Pompton Plains, and at the community acupuncture clinic located within Growing with the Seasons in Boonton.
