Restoring energy and harmony to your system
Wendi Evans is a holistic physical therapist specializing in manual therapy and craniosacral therapy. She uses a variety of gentle, hands-on techniques to release restrictions throughout the body that are causing pain or dysfunction, limiting the flow of energy or hindering optimal function of the various systems of the body.
This highly individualized approach can release years of dysfunction or old trauma in order to reduce pain, restore better alignment, decrease muscle tension and spasm, calm the nervous system, enhance energy flow, facilitate detoxification and support organ function. She treats the entire person, since problem areas are usually associated with other dysfunctions throughout the system.
She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1988, and started her career working with patients with orthopedic issues and arthritis. As her interest in manual therapy grew, she began learning additional techniques to address the various causes of pain and dysfunction. In 2000, she began training in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. She has also studied other techniques like Fascial Counterstrain, Muscle Energy Technique and Functional Indirect Technique, which are derived from osteopathic concepts. She has also learned to address the mind-body connection with SomatoEmotional release, guided imagery and energy work, for a more comprehensive approach to healing.
In 2011, Wendi was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease, a condition that had been impacting her health since she was in her 20's. She found that integrative medicine practices, combined with medication, were the key to her recovery. Throughout her treatment, she regularly received manual therapy and craniosacral therapy to relieve symptoms, reduce stress and help her body clear toxins. This experience as a patient gave her a great sense of compassion for those suffering from chronic illness. She now feels grateful for the opportunity to be an integral part of a multi-faceted approach to managing and recovering one's health and well-being.
I started my career as a traditional physical therapist, working with orthopedic clients. Due to experiences in my own life, I was introduced to the value of manual therapy and craniosacral therapy, to reduce pain, release strain patterns and trauma from the system and to enhance the healing abilities of the body.
