Tai Chi Ch'uan Instructor
Taoists say that, “Stillness in stillness is not the true stillness, that only through stillness in motion does the universal rhythm
My name is Gene Golden, and I’m the founder and owner of The Golden School of Tai Chi Ch’uan. I am located in Bellingham, Washington and I teach private and group classes in the Yang Style of T’ai Chi Ch’uan. My focus is on balancing the flow of the body’s internal energy or Chi for health and personal empowerment. Tai Chi Ch'uan is a relaxed form of moving meditation that helps reduce stress. It is also a martial art developing speed, power and one's self-defense ability. I believe it is the most humane of all martial arts because it is based on neutralizing and deflecting an attacker's force and returning the energy of the attack to its source. The goal of Tai Chi Ch'uan is a state of harmony and balance and to do no harm.
I began my study of Tai Chi Ch’uan in 1975 under the tutelage of Grand Master William C.C. Chen of New York City. In 1980, I opened The Golden School of Tai Chi Ch’uan in New Hampshire and Portland, Maine, where I taught until 1998. I relocated to the West Coast to Rancho Santa Margarita, California where I taught until moving to Bellingham, WA. Through the years, I have practiced and exchanged ideas with many practitioners of Tai Chi, such as Master T.T. Lang of Boston and Benjamin Lo of San Francisco. All of this experience has helped me further develop my skills and embrace my own path of harmony, continually cultivating my ability to adapt to the “What Is” in life.
Helping, healing and empowering others.
