About me

As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I work with my clients to help them create happy, healthy lives in a way that is flexible, fun, and free of deprivation and discipline. By working together, we can discover the food and lifestyle choices that best support you. Making gradual, lifelong changes, you enable yourself to reach your health goals and I am there to guide you along the way.

 your health and happiness. Together, we’ll explore concerns specific to you and your body and discover the tools you need for a lifetime of balance. Consider food as the medicine you need to heal from a multiplicity of ailments, large and small; physical, emotional, psychological and even relational.

I have both studied the art and science of health coaching and have been through the process myself of a 1:1 holistic wellness coaching program. After speaking with numerous health coaches, colleagues and clients alike, who themselves engaged in a 3, 6, and even 12-month program, I can say with genuine confidence that if you are able to take a leap of faith and commit to the process, you will find you be amazed at how your life will be transformed. By changing your food and life nutrition, you will see your life course-correct.

My Philosophy of Care

I became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach after studying medicine at Yale School of Medicine and practicing traditional healthcare for over a decade at Harvard and Dartmouth Hospitals. Finding the Western approach to health and wellness stifling, I switched gears and became a Holistic Health & Integrative Nutrition Coach to make my practice inclusive of multiple wellness modalities, especially ones that include the use of nutrition to heal.

On a personal level, I had been suffering with a number ailments including: gut dysbioses diagnosed as SIBO and Leaky Gut; muscular stiffness and chronic joint inflammation and a diagnosis of Frozen Shoulder; anxiety that stifled my ability to make choices and pursue career interests; chronic headaches and a reversed sleep cycle; dysphoria and depression robbing me of any joy I had experienced with previously loved activities; rapid weight fluctuations and emotional eating, disconnected from appetite; and ultimately self-loathing because I felt like I was running in place, going nowhere. None of the multiple doctors I saw, including naturopaths, internists, sports doctors, gastroenterologists, psychiatrists and neurologists, each who proclaimed a different diagnosis unrelated to the others, could offer any explanation for the root of the problem, offering ineffective band-aids and impractical solutions. I wasted years and tried a collection of bizarre treatments in any effort to help myself. Ultimately, I found that by eating certain foods in a particular pattern, utilizing a panoply of self-care practices, incorporating daily mindful movement into my life, and holding myself accountable, much as a coach would, with compassion and patience, I was able to overcome these very disabling physical and emotional ailments of my own.

While I no longer practice traditional medicine and instead make nutrition (both the food on one’s plate and the food that nourishes one’s life) the cornerstone of my work, my understanding of human physiology and metabolism and my training in psychotherapy do serve to enhance my practice. I have an understanding of medical diagnostic terminology, pharmacology and the physiology of general illness which allows me to comprehend the stories clients bring of their own interface with the medical community.

My clients describe a gush of relief at finally taking the time to focus solely on their own health and being able to discuss their life in a non-judgemental and confidential setting. They describe a healthy dose of skepticism at the process and often a bit of guilt at finally focusing on how their health may be suffering and how they’d like to see their wellness improve. My clients often surprise themselves with how eager they are to be seen and how ready they are to put in the work which will change their lives.

My Inspiration

Food and nutrition are unique to everyone, as are food preferences. Eating food that is tasty to you is essential to enhancing your life and uplifting your spirit. Eating food that makes your body feel good and function optimally is essential to enriching your health and wellness. These two things: Tasty Food and Nutritious Food are not always the same, but they can both be incorporated into your diet so that your spirit is enriched AND your body well. You may not realize that your eating is skewed one way or the other. You may not understand the impact of different foods on your metabolism and your emotions. You may not understand the difference between a whole food and a processed food and why that matters. I want you to eat the foods you love and also learn what foods can be healing to you. I believe that food can reduce cravings, reduce emotional eating/binging, improve weight management, improve strength and mobility, improve mood, lessen anxiety, panic and rigidity. Exploring food and experimenting with cooking can be daunting but is never a requirement or something that will overwhelm you. Together, we create meal plans that incorporate your favorite foods and add in nutrition at a rate that you control and that works in your life. It is always individualized.
