Interfaith Spiritual Wellness Guide, Author, Speaker, Artist
I have been a seeker and learner all my life in the area of spiritual, emotional and physical wellness, and for the last 18 years I've been an active teacher and guide as well. My life was changed by two journeys with breast cancer and numerous other physical challenges. I've had to look beyond allopathic treatments to additional ways healing takes place. I believe the source of all layers of challenges reside in the spiritual realm, so that's where I go for healing.
I have been a shamanic practitioner since 2002, when I graduated from my core shamanic training with Alberto Villoldo and the Four Winds Institute, where I studied for two years. I've been fortunate to travel and study with other shamanic teachers, including indigenous practitioners in Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan, as well as the U.S.
I'm also a trained mediator and spiritual director and am on the faculty of Tacheria Interfaith Spirituality Center, where I trained as a spiritual guide. My spiritual journey was enriched tremendously through three years of studying with the Susanna and Puran Bair at their Institute of Applied Meditation. My traditional education was a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.A. in Education from Columbia University.
I've worked at Miraval Resort and Spa in Tucson, and am currently a part time provider on the Spiritual Wellness team at Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Tucson. I've taught at Rancho la Puerta in Mexico, Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas, and presented at numerous conferences on cancer recovery, aging, death and dying and various forms of healing.
At 74, I'm interested in teaching and speaking, am working on a new book, and eagerly working on my Earthskin Designs, fabrics I'm designing using my abstract aerial and nature photographs. My long journey with healing convinces me that creativity is a huge untapped resource to which we all have access. When we are appreciating the beauty of nature and our experiences, beauty acts as medicine for all our ills.
I am seeing very few private clients, but am leading occasional retreats with my older daughter, Laura Weaver, and teaching and speaking on dealing with the chaotic change around us on the personal and collective levels. Aging qualifies as one of those changes, and end of life issues, women's empowerment and honoring the feminine energies in all of us are topics I love to address. I am represented by Susan Guzetta at susanguzetta.com and also can be contacted directly.
I offer several tools on my website: my award-winning book, Flying Lessons: How to Be the Pilot of Your Own Life, a system using shamanic energy medicine to deal with any challenge is one set of tools. My Sand Spirits Insight Cards are unique photographic cards that are guaranteed to activate your intuition and inner wisdom. The Sand Spirits Workbook can deepen your use of these cards, both personally and in your professional practice.
