A registered nurse and geriatric nurse practitioner for over 30 years, Paula is a graduate of the Duke University School of Nursing and Duke Integrative Medicine’s Integrated Health Coach Program. She has a master’s degree from Boston University and advanced certificate in counseling and psychology from Lesley University. She is currently pursing her PhD at Duke. Her research focuses on the healing effect of "presence" for both patients and care providers.
Paula was the director of geriatrics at Winchester Hospital in Winchester, MA for many years. In 1997 she established her own consulting company and is known for developing innovative approaches to healthcare for middle-aged and older adults. Her program Age Well Be Well provides educational presentations and health coaching services that promote improved longevity and quality of life for individuals beginning at mid-life. Paula combines her expertise in gerontology and holistic nursing with coaching skills that gently support her clients' ability to engage their own healing capacity.
In addition, Paula is an integrative nurse consultant in Boston. She provides strategic and program development consultation. Her special interest and expertise focus on human-centered care and the promotion of self-care and mindfulness-based practices. Her work in mindfulness-based practices at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute was recently highlighted in the American Journal of Nursing.
Paula offers two locations to see clients face-to-face: Boston's South End and Brewster on Cape Cod. She also does home visits and coaching sessions by phone.
