Amanda Lee Holistic Health
Acupuncture treatments embody a holistic approach to healing with individualized treatments aiming to bring harmony to the body, mind, and spirit.
You get an idea of the philosophy behind Amanda Lee’s acupuncture practice by catching the tail end of one of her yoga classes. Amanda — who, along with having a master’s degree in Traditional Chinese medicine, also has yoga teaching and Thai massage certifications — concludes each class by having students vigorously rub their hands together. Experiencing themselves creating a bit of qi, each student then places it wherever on their body they feel they need it most.
After years of education, practice and discovery, Amanda now runs a Manhattan Beach-based acupuncture practice. A typical appointment may include cupping, guasha and/or an herbal consult, depending on the needs and wants of the patient.
Amanda grew up on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, and moved to Southern California after college, where she studied at Northeastern University’s vaunted pre-med program. In the midst of preparing for the MCAT, she took a trip to Sri Lanka to work at an orphanage. It was there that she first began seriously practicing yoga, and when she returned she underwent teacher training. Upon completion of her training, Amanda began teaching yoga, and also became a spin instructor. As often happens, such an active lifestyle began taking a toll on her body, which she addressed with regular acupuncture treatments. It was during this time, Amanda fell in love with the power of acupuncture.
Years later on a yoga retreat in Costa Rica, Amanda decided to dedicate herself to the study and practice of acupuncture. Upon her return to the U.S. she enrolled at Emperor’s College. During her time there, she participated in clinical training at Being Alive Community Clinic in West Hollywood California, as well as at the prestigious Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center in Burbank California, and Venice Family Clinic in Santa Monica. Amanda graduated with honors and a Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the esteemed Emperor’s College in May 2018.
Amanda Lee is Nationally Board Certified and licensed by the State of California. She continues to teach a variety of Yoga, Thai Massage and group fitness classes in the South Bay. She lives in Manhattan Beach with her fiancé and pet pig.
