Dr. Brian Perrier utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to treating orthopedic conditions as well as to improve overall patient health
From an early age, I developed a strong passion for how exercise, movement and physical therapy can positively impact the body and mind. While in high school, I experienced first hand the benefits of being treated by a physical therapist and working with a strength coach, which led to me to pursue a career in physical therapy.
My journey first began at Skidmore College where I earned a BS in Exercise Science. During my final year at Skidmore I participated in a year-long study through a grant from the Department of Homeland Security to investigate "The effects of training status in modulating the effects of heat stress on endothelial function and arterial stiffness following firefighter activity."
Upon graduation from Skidmore College, I enrolled into the Columbia University Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. While at Columbia, I performed rotations in several outpatient orthopedics practices and the inpatient cardiopulmonary department at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. In my final year I was a part of a specialty tract for orthopedics.
Since graduation, I have worked in an outpatient sports/orthopedic practice treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and surgical cases. Although I loved my job and helping my patients, I began to experience burnout from the high volume of patients I was treating and my inability to provide the quality care that I wanted to. It was at this juncture in April 2017 that I decided to leave my job. Over the course of the following year I traveled all over the world for a variety of courses, shadowed some of the best physical therapists/chiropractors in the country and began to develop my own approach for helping people with their pain, improving their movement capacity and overall wellness.
I have now opened my own physical therapy clinic in which I am able to treat every patient 1 on 1 for one hour sessions. I utilize an interdisciplinary approach to treating orthopedic conditions as well as to improve overall patient health and wellness. My primary goal is to provide the necessary education to the patient about their body and the best way to maintain their health moving forward so they can live a strong, healthy and happy life.
