When I was doing just massage therapy, it was rare to see anyone experience lasting relief. Now that I use Myofascial Release as my primary modality, almost everyone experiences some long term pain relief.
I like to describe Myofascial Release as a slow motion, deep tissue massage. Fascia is the connective tissue that holds everything in place and is naturally tremendously strong. So if you try to force it, you lose. By using stretching, or compression, (or a combination of the two) that are gentle and held long enough, the fascial restriction will begin to release and lengthen out. The welcome result is decreased pain and increased range of motion.
For some inexplicable reason, about twenty years ago I found myself irresistibly drawn to learn about the life force energy ancient Chinese Medicine refers to as Chi. I couldn't get enough information from books, so I started taking classes to learn to do energy healing work. That lead to massage therapy as I needed to have a license for hands on work.
Curt Redd was great to work with! I suffered with upper back pain for years and no amount of massages could ever keep the pain away. During my session Curt worked on my back, but was able to find other issues such as my shoulder and hip alignment and an out of place rib that were also causing the pain. He was very knowledgeable in answering all my questions about how all the three were connected and how he works on them. He continually asked and assessed my pain through the session so that he could make sure he thoroughly worked on every issue. He was great to work with and was very professional.
