I was born in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I've lived here for the majority of my life. I had the opportunity to grow up with a dad who was a doctor, but who also loved being a dad. I expressed interest in the path of medicine from a very young age, and in those early years my desire to be a doctor grew primarily from a desire to care for my family. While growing up, I was focused on academics, but I also spent a significant amount of time with athletics and church activities. At school, I played football and soccer, and I was a long distance runner on the cross country and track teams. Recreationally, I played soccer and sand volleyball outside of school. At church, I was an active member within the youth ministry and went to multiple summer camps as a youth counselor. I also picked up freestyle dancing during high school. I graduated 11th in his class, with honors, from L.D. Bell High School in 1996.
From there, I went to College Station, Texas. Although college coursework was a priority, I also remained active in a local church and intramural sports, including soccer and volleyball. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 2000 with a B.S. in Biomedical Science, and then it was on to medical school.
In fall of 2000, I started medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, which is part of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. I continued playing some soccer, but studies during those years took up a great deal of my available time. I attended a medical mission trip in the summer of 2001, and I remained active at my local church during the entire 4 years. Upon graduating from medical school in the top half of my class, I moved with my wife to the Appalachian Mountains for my internship and residency in Family Medicine through East Tennessee State University in Kingsport.
I worked in the urgent care setting for 10 years before joining Lang Family Medicine full time in 2016. I have served as Vice President, President, and CME Chairman of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for 9 years. I am happily married since 2003 and have 3 children. I also enjoy teaching at my local church on the subjects of identity and destiny. Although I relish many other activities, such as hiking to waterfalls in the mountains, watching sunsets, biking, soccer, volleyball and freestyle dancing, my favorite ventures in my adult life are being a husband and father.
