I took a breastfeeding class at a local GB hospital 4yrs ago. It wasn't very helpful and the lactation help I received at the hospital was sub-par. Unfortunately made it only 4 wks breastfeeding my son. Fast forward 4 years and I received Jenni's contact info. Just took her breastfeeding class last night and was blown away by the amount of helpful info/tips i received. She was so nice and very knowledgeable. I already feel like we are on the path to success with baby #2. I will have no hesitation to call her for in-home help if needed (which would have been so incredibly helpful with the 1st).So glad I found this resource!
I have not worked with Jenni as a patient, but my professional interactions reveal that she is very up to date on current medical literature regarding all things lactation. She has been involved and is a board member of the Wisconsin Association of Lactation Consultants and has attended several learning opportunities/conferences (including a full day workshop on assessment) on tongue/lip-tie (renamed TOTS (tethered oral tissue)). Jenni is a great option for Green Bay Families to receive lactation help and has expertise with oral restrictions--something near and dear to my heart.

About me

Breastfeeding and infant tongue function are passions of mine. Working in Woman and Infant Health as a registered nurse (RN), I found assisting mother baby couplets with breastfeeding very fulfilling. Becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) was the next step in expanding my knowledge.

I also work in the dental office of Dr. Chris Peterson, De Pere Smiles, providing feed assessments and assistance to the tongue and lip tie release clients.

I have experience working with breastfeeding techniques, supply management (including low milk supply and oversupply), infant suck/tongue assessment and function, breastfeeding multiples, and breast augmentation or reduction. I can help nursing and pumping mothers with expressing, storage, returning to work, and medication use while breastfeeding.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe every family should have compassionate support meeting their infant feeding goals.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

Our visit will begin with history discuss and weighing of the baby. I will then do an assessment of the baby and hold in a manner to allow unwinding. Findings will be discussed and feeding assistance will be offered.
A care plan will be shared via email following our visit.

My Inspiration

Our children and my breastfeeding difficulties inspired me to help others meet their feeding goals.
Encountering two Doctors of Osteopathy using Craniosacral Therapy during newborn evaluations, lead to my interest in bodywork. The results related to feeding were amazing. Lactation with gentle touch energy work has truly expanded my breastfeeding support.

Questions & Answers

Jenni Johnson, RN, IBCLC Answers
If you feel like your supply is decreasing, first evaluate feedings and your little one. If the breast is draining well during the feedings and there are plenty of wet and soiled diapers, your supply is just fine. Removing milk is the best way to stimulate and maintain a healthy milk supply. Use more frequent feedings, hand expression and/or pumping to drain the breast and stimulate production. Maintaining a balanced diet, high in protein and fiber, and drinking to thirst to will support a healthy supply. Busy mamas forget to eat sometimes; keeping snacks such as nuts, granola bars, and pitted fruits on hand can help remind you to eat. Coconut water is a great way to stay hydrated and get the electrolytes you need. It can take 48 to 72 hours to see a change in supply, if you are not seeing results you may want to contact a lactation support person for further assistance.
