Yoga On A Mission: I believe in using noninvasive, holistic modalities as a first line of defense for physical and mental health conditions.
I have been a physical therapist for 18 years and have worked in a variety of settings including acute rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, private homes and outpatient clinics. I founded Compassionate Healing Services after I became certified to teach yoga in 2016. I have since been certified in Accessible Yoga, Thai massage and as a Reiki Master. I have a passion for eating intuitively and offer workshops and coaching services to teach you how to break up with toxic diet culture and let your own body guide you toward better physical and mental health.
For more than 20 years I believed that "watching my weight" through constant dieting and punishing exercise regimens was the way to be "healthy." Reading the book Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch inspired me to give up dieting permanently in 2015. About a year later I started practicing gentle and yin styles of yoga regularly and it had such a profound effect on my mental health that I started teacher training just six months later. I've been a physical therapist for more than 18 years, and though I do love my profession, I have been frustrated by the limitations of providing care through insurance companies who prioritize profits over people. I'm passionate about spreading the message that yoga is for EVERYBODY and that healthy does not have a size or shape.
I have dozens of testimonials on my website from clients who appreciate my gentle, compassionate, evidence-based approach.
Yoga is for EVERYONE!!! Yoga is about breathing with intention. The poses are completely optional. I tried yoga seven different times before I found the teachers and style that most resonated for me and I encourage you to do the same! Yoga teaches you valuable tools to regulate difficult emotions and meditation--the ultimate goal of yoga--has been scientifically proven to change the brain when done consistently.
