Linda is an excellent teacher. She listened to my concerns and tailored my sessions to my needs and goals. I've gained tremendous positive results from my individual sessions with Linda.
I have practiced yoga for many years, but I have never before studied with a yoga teacher who specializes in yoga for people with scoliosis. This year I signed up for a series of five individual sessions with Linda Benton to focus on my own scoliosis condition. She sent out a detailed prestudy questionnaire, which I took the time to complete. All of our sessions were conducted remotely through Zoom. Linda was on time for every session, and was very well prepared. She knew what she wanted to accomplish, and she moved directly to get it done. However, she was also flexible in giving me enough time to ask questions. She had asked about other health conditions in her questionnaire, and she accommodated other things I was dealing with, including an injury from which I was still recovering at the time of our sessions. She is knowledgeable about the ayurvedic tradition, and worked this tradition into my sessions. People with scoliosis are sometimes self-conscious about their own appearance or athletic capabilities, but I felt no problems from this because of her welcoming and positive approach to teaching. I believe my time and money were well spent in individual study with Linda Benton, and I recommend her teaching for people with scoliosis or other back problems.

Therapeutic Yoga for Scoliosis and Back Care
I combine therapeutic techniques and movement thru the modalities of yoga and Pilates to: Build Strength, Improve Alignment, Inspire Hope The program I offer incorporates therapeutic movements and techniques based on Yoga for Scoliosis & Pilates for Scoliosis/Back Care Principles. This means, I couple therapeutic postures, breathing techniques, props and modifications added to classic yoga and Pilates poses. This one-on-one program (virtual or in studio) is not classic vinyasa flow, rather is specific and is customized to YOU. All levels of experience are welcome to attend. No previous Yoga experience required.

Therapeutic Yoga for Recovery
Therapeutic Yoga for Recovery is offered to both the families that are looking for support in their heartbreak of their loved one’s addiction AND those currently in recovery. Yoga for Recovery is offered to those suffering from sexual abuse, eating disorders, drug/alcohol/shopping/gambling addiction. Yoga for Recovery is far more than just a physical practice. It offers go-to therapeutic yoga tools for the body, mind and spirit to heal and soothe the soul. It is yoga therapy moving from suffering to solution with an embodiment of peace and wellness ~ we are survivors! I also offer this 8 week workshop at facilities. Please reach out to me directly to if your facility is interested in offering this to your clients. Yoga for Recovery is offered as a 75 minute virtual 8 week workshop on Monday evenings @ 5:30 p.m. CT. I am also considering offering this workshop @ 9 a.m. CT on Saturday’s. This is offered as a 8 week workshop @ $120 or a $20 drop in and requires a minimum of five to be signed up for the 8 week workshop for the workshop to run.

About me

I love helping people feel better - body, mind and soul. My purpose is to educate and bring you your own customized therapeutic yoga practice.

Me? Back in 2005, I turned to restorative Yoga to help manage many physical injuries - C6/7 discectomy. As I have aged L5/S1 is bulging. And then of course, life happens bringing the anxiety and grief on....

And then......something happened and I got a glimmer of peace....ahhhhh.... "yoga". Absolutely love my yoga - this is my true calling and passion in life. I insist on teaching with perfection and have a deep therapeutic yoga knowledge base in my teachings. Additionally, I have over 20 years of teaching matt Pilates.

I am a Yoga Therapist. Yoga Therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, life style management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups. This is powerful information and far more than just a physical practice. No previous yoga experience required.

I am 1 of <4k globally attaining a Certification as a Yoga Therapist AND 1 of < 12 in the US that is Certified in Therapeutic Movements & Techniques utilizing Yoga and Pilates for Scoliosis.

Either out of my home studio in Gurnee, IL or virtually I teach one-on-one or group yoga therapeutic sessions of

My mission in life is to empower my clients with yoga therapy tools for both improved physical and mental health, giving them a sense of well being and peace they didn't deem possible.

Spiritual, patient, highly effective, extremely knowledgeable teacher. I suffered many years with neck and back pain after a terrible car accident. Linda carefully created the perfect balance of healing therapeutic yoga poses and a spiritual approach to my daily practice. I felt better than I have in a long time. I was inspired to continue to practice yoga every day, I am very grateful to have worked with Linda and I highly recommend her!
I’ve known Linda for almost a decade now and the yoga and Pilates classes I’ve taken from her at the Centre Club in Libertyville have always been well planned and expertly executed. I always leave her classes feeling more informed and that I had class an excellent workout. I strongly endorse her.
I have known Linda for many years, I met her first when she was getting certified as a yoga instructor and was impressed with her enthusiasm and ambition to become The Best in the industry. What struck me most about her was the fact that she really cared about helping people, correcting their postures in class to get the most out of the workout, not just instructing the class. Linda would always ask after her class if anyone had any questions or concerns and would be happy to assist them, rare these days! After many years as an instructor her thirst for more knowledge beyond yoga led her into the direction of studying the human body, taking numerous medical courses to learn about the anatomy of the human body, the nervous system, muscular and skeletal systems and what impact it has on the body. This enabled her to better understand how the body responds to trauma, ailments, and stress. I have recommended several people, including my sister, and each one came back with wonderful results. Many of them tried just about everything to rectify their aches and pains, including Chiropractic adjustments, but found that the adjustments lasted just so long, only to have to return for another adjustment. With Linda's background in yoga it helped with added stretches taught to lengthen the muscles and keep the body in alignment longer than just an adjustment. Linda has earned her credibility and I feel confident referring anyone that is in pain or has any discomfort to give this a try!
I met Linda at The Center Club-Gurnee.... her sessions were always full. She is extremely experienced in her field and cares about your individual needs. I'm glad I attended her sessions and know where to locate her.
When you have a session with Linda, you know that she really cares about y--o--u. Through her studies, her yoga practice, her friendship, and her experience, Linda offers quite a bit to help you with any back problems, scoliosis, life struggles, and stress. Oh, and be sure to share with her your physical aches and pains when thou are with her, so that she can address them through your practice. Her stretches and movements actually work along with your desire to get better. If they don't seem to at first, bring that up to her. When you are with Linda, you work as a team, and you are able to be well.
I have taken yoga lessons with Linda for several years. Prior to starting yoga lessons, I had extremely poor flexibility. I credit Linda with the great improvement in my overall flexibility which has given me a smoother walk and reduced hip pain. She is a true and caring professional.
