My journey began when I entered my first dance class at four. Years of training led to dance performance and choreography, evolving into a career in fitness. in 1992 I became a Personal Trainer and ten years later I discovered yoga. This was a revelation, for it proved to be the culminating discipline that enabled me to integrate all my interests: dance, fitness, yoga.
These disciplines support what has turned out to be an even more encompassing love: teaching itself. A significant part of my life, now, lies in helping students open to the sources of joy within their own bodies. I take delight in seeing them respond to what is really a simple truth: Movement is life.
In 2007, I became a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher. The same year I also finished my studies with the Cancer Exercise Training Institute and became certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist. I am now at Kripalu pursuing a certification as a Yoga Therapist.
I am grateful to be a student of Elise Miller, a Senior Iyengar Teacher, and certified with her as a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer.
I am not yet teaching in public venues but have opened my home studio to small classes and private instruction.
I am also currently teaching virtual Yoga and Fitness classes on Zoom. All classes are by donation. Please visit this link if you are interested. www.lisagulotta.com/online-classes-1
I have been dancing and wiggling and grooving since the day I was born. I am inspired by the human body. If we listen to our breath and honor our sensations and feel the mechanics of each movement, we can heal ourselves.
We need to be strong so we do not fall. We need to be flexible so that there are no limitations on how far we can reach. We need to be agile so that we can move through our life with grace and ease. Movement is LIFE.
My goal is to empower you to progress toward improved health and well-being through the various modalities I offer. The first session is a discovery. I start by watching you walk. How does your body move through space? How do you sit?
My clients might say that I am playful, and curious and always positive. From the worlds of fitness, yoga and dance I have a deep well of ideas and props and angles and perspectives to pull from. My sessions are never dull and we always learn something!
Movement is LIFE. Our bodies are amazing healers.
