About me

I am a certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and Viniyoga™ therapist, as well as an E-RYT 500 in the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar (son of Sri T. Krishnamacharya --one of the most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century). I teach one-on-one and small private classes using all the tools yoga offers: postures, breath work, chanting, meditation, personal ritual, and study of texts, according to the interests of my students. I also teach somatic movement, and am a Student-in-Training of Hanna Somatic Education, as well as a certified Clinical Somatic Exercise Instructor. Since 2019, I have been studying Āyurveda, the sister science to yoga which focuses on diet and lifestyle to create and maintain health and wellbeing, and I also offer Āyurvedic health counseling.

I currently see clients with structural, physiological, and emotional conditions. Together with your primary healthcare provider, we will craft a personalized practice that is efficient, elegant, and effective to help you realize your optimal potential and well-being.

What You Can Expect On Your First Visit

Clients should expect a thorough intake in which we discuss current concerns and past history, a physical assessment, followed by an introduction to breathing, and, depending on the presenting concern, an introduction to somatic movement.

My Inspiration

I was inspired to become a healer by a near-fatal car accident which made me reevaluate my life's purpose.

Last year, at the age of 67, I was diagnosed with late onset asthma. I began treatment with appropriate medication but my lung function was limited and I often felt like I couldn’t take a deep breath. I had never practiced yoga (or any other form of exercise) but decided to add alternative approaches in the hope of increasing my breathing capacity. After working with Lisa for only a few weeks, the change in my breath capacity was astounding. I am able to work at home with the written practices she creates for me, changing the practice as my work with her evolves.
