The unique thing about me is that I've been teaching yoga for higher education for 25 years and practicing it even longer. Along with this I'm also a certified bodyworker with 20 years experience doing traditional therapeutic massage and over 10 years as an Upledger-certified Craniosacral therapist. Along with that, I'm a graduate scholar of religion where I honed my chops on research and writing. I am also building a geodesic dome to house a yoga institute in the hills above the Kern River Valley in southern California. As a lifelong vegetarian, I've studied with Vegan fusion chef Mark Reinfeld and raw food chef Jenny Cornbleet to learn how to cook vegan food and lead vegan cooking classes. I've studied with the Ojai foundation in the "art of council," to facilitate transformative group experiences. After certifying in medi-yoga in 2016 I bought my own gong and singing bowls to lead soundbaths in our acoustically enhanced dome. After inheriting an assortment of drums, I attended drum circle facilitation with Arthur Hull at Remo drums in 2014. At the dome I have hosted drum circles, movies, lectures, and classes. I have a fused glass studio in my home and make glass art that decorates the walls and windows of our studio with the colorful healing spectrum. All of this is to create a holistic center with positive healing energy where everyone can visit to recharge their incarnational vehicle. Zoom technology has extended my range just like the web does for my physical studio.
I learned from craniosacral therapy that the body is full of wisdom. Our practice as craniotherapists is to always follow the Position of Comfort, or the "indirect method." This means that when I hold an injured area between my hands I can start to feel the direction it wants to go. If I help the tissue go the direction it wants to go, the person usually tells me the pain has gone. This leads into cell talk where we connect with the region under our treatment. Cell talk doesn't have to be words.
After a session with me you will feel refreshed and ready to meet the rest of your day resourcefully. The holistic services I provide encourage myriad pathways for optimal healing outcomes. Yoga students describe how they notice that their sore back didn't hurt when they got up off the floor after their practice. Craniosacral clients notice that the dizzy spells they were plagued with are gone. They feel elated like depression is lifted from their body. Some describe their session as a journey.
Maybe it's because I feel an ethical duty to clean up the planet. As a religious studies scholar, I care deeply about "the Great Mystery," that created us and for me it is life itself. Protecting life is my dharma and the skills I have developed are turned toward preserving life. Practicing yoga gives us a therapeutic technology based on postures and breathing. Craniosacral therapy provides an amazing resource into the central nervous system. A whole foods plant based diet sequesters carbon. OM.
