I come from a family of teachers. I suppose that is why I concentrate my training efforts on teaching you how the exercises (movements) should feel. It is my goal to give you the tools you need to exercise and move for improved health, but also for a better life. If weight loss is your goal, we will work together to find the fastest, easiest, and most effective way for you to lose weight safely and permanently. If you desire finishing 18 holes of golf without pain, we can explore the source of aches and pains and addressing the underlying issues. Regardless of your goal, there is movement that can improve your life, and I'd love to be the one to guide you to that destination.
After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, in 1996, I worked at FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness. I worked with Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Conditioning. I worked with the physical therapy department on “fitness therapy”, transitioning patients from physical therapy back into a safe workout environment. I was introduced to The Melt Method at an IDEA Personal Training conference in Early 2015. Within 15 minutes of Sue Hitzmann’s intro demo I knew that Melt could help many in our area get out and stay out of PAIN. I have experience with kids with Autism and other physical and social disabilities. I found Precision Nutrition in 2015 and became certified.
Over the years, I realized that I love helping people become stronger, healthier, happier versions of themselves.
When I meet with a client for the first time, I want to know how they would like for me to help them reach their goals. Based on the stated goals, I give some basic exercises to get a feel for what the client likes and doesn't like, any orthopedic limitations, and basic personal information.
The MELT Method is like foam rolling 2.0. Most people describe a MELT session like a self-massage with lasting effects. There is some stretching, a little core work, and an occasional plank. What you will do is Glide, Shear, and Rinse your way to easier movement and less "noisy" joints.
