About me

Aging -- we all do it.
How we age is another story! My plan is to age nourished, strong and centered. Want to join me? Virginia here! I'm the founding owner of Nutrition for Wellness™.

By the time we hit our mid-30s, 40s, or 50s, many of us start to feel the effects of years of poor self-care. We wish we could eat better, be more active, and be less stressed, less inflamed. Changes in health (subtle or significant) are usually calls to action. But we should not wait until we have a health crisis. Whether you have had a brush with illness or are starting to realize you are not 20-30something any longer, you don't have to become "a health nut." However, now is the time to take care of you, traveling through the various cycles of celebrating self-nourishment, strength, and centeredness and continuing to grow. Through Nutrition for Wellness, I am here to share years of knowledge - practical and learned - to support you in achieving a new level of nourishment, strength and centeredness. Often, how well we age is a result of how well we nourished our needs (through food, mind, environment, and movement).

In 1998, out of a desire to share my passion for all things that support the human condition of optimal wellness, I founded Nutrition for Wellness as a medium through which I can share my passion and knowledge for creating and celebrating wellness. I want to inspire you not just to do what will foster wellness but to be good to yourself/gentle with yourself and celebrate how good you can feel in your body now; empower you to acknowledge and celebrate what you are doing right and build upon that.

I am here to map out with you YOUR personal journey toward greater wellness and well-being. With a focus on integrative and functional nutrition, the Nutrition for Wellness programs I offer educate, inspire, and enable you to take ownership and recapture your healthiest state; move into nourishment, strength, and centeredness of your body and your life. I believe that taking care of our bodies is crucial to self-nourishment, and that self-nourishment is crucial to a happy, healthy, joyful life of purpose and meaning. I'm talking about more than a mind-body connection. I want you to experience well-being at every level: body, emotions, cognitions, and spirit. My role is to help you start with the body you have today and see how you can best support it with good nutrition as well as through lifestyle changes that will affect you at a cellular level. My own personal journey has been spirit-based, and each experience I've had contributed to my base of knowledge and compassion that I share with you.

I've been doing what I love (offering Functional and Integrative Nutrition and Lifestyle counseling) and loving what I do for over 30 years. Whether it is through one-on-one, small-group, online or in-person workshops, or as a lecture experience, Nutrition for Wellness' signature programs impart powerful resources that help you get to your healthiest state of nourishment, strength, and centeredness. Nutrition for Wellness programs feature protocols guided by evidence-based research. They were borne out of years of my clinical, personal, and observational experience.
In my late teens and early 20s, as an athlete, fitness instructor, and health enthusiast, I dove into the Complementary and Alternative practices (CAM). It was an easy transition into becoming an exercise and fitness training expert. I grew my knowledge and exposure to all sorts of modalities. Wanting to sort the facts from fiction, I advanced my studies and earned a Master of Science degree in clinical nutrition from New York University (NYU). I had been actively involved in the Health and Wellness field for many years, well before my formal training as a clinical and integrative Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian. My focus has long been on integrative and functional nutrition in medicine as well as other complementary modalities. My advanced training in integrative and functional nutrition as medicine through a variety of institutions, including the Institute of Functional Medicine, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics DIFM group, The American Association of Nutritional Consultants, Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, Medicines from the Earth and the like, lets me share with you rich resources and tools to help you heal and grow into a healthier version of you. To remain current in the fields of integrative and functional health and to bring you cutting-edge tools you can use, you can find me annually attending numerous continuing education seminars (in nutrition, medicine, stress management, meditation, herbology, movement and exercise physiology, phycology, coaching techniques and exploring the philosophy of metaphysics).
I am honored to have the opportunity to partner with you and be part of your journey toward optimal health.
