About me

Hello. My name is Samuel Claiborne

I am no stranger to serious physical injury and emotional trauma. And I know how hopeless you can feel when faced with intractable physical and/or emotional pain and debility.

Over 2 decades ago I was completely paralyzed from the shoulders down in a biking accident, and in incredible, essentially untreatable pain. I was also suffering from brain damage, shock, and PTSD. Unable to think clearly, I could not marshall my resources. I was utterly crushed - I felt helpless and hopeless, and terrified; my life was over. Night after night in the Neuro Intensive Care ward, I literally begged God to take me. And then I had an 'awakening experience' that gave me the strength to fight back, and I recovered over 90% of what I'd lost.

I know what it’s like to feel that you’ve lost everything, including hope. But, more importantly, I also know that there is always hope, and that given time and hard work, your body and spirit are more than willing to heal - they are eager to heal!

But sometimes they need gentle direction, a "second pair of eyes" that can help them see where they’re stuck, out of alignment, contracted, congested, or afraid to break out of a "safe" pattern that has become severely limiting.

Every pain your body or spirit has ever generated is a request for a conversation - a request to be heard. Far from something pernicious, something to run away from, as counter-intuitive as it may sound, pain can be your road back to health - the signpost to recovery and the early warning system for illness.
In my case, luck, hard work, myriad alternative therapies (done against my doctors collective will, and in defiance of their warnings and threats), paid off. What was the key to my success? A stubborn demand of myself and others that I be the senior partner in my healing, and a willingness to search, to try things "outside the box" of Western Medicine.

This led me to Ortho-Bionomy, first as a patient, then as an Associate Practitioner. It also led me back to where I started as a child, for as a child I'd been both an energy healer and a medical intuitive, two words I didn't even know existed until 10 years ago.

During my recovery, I found my doctors to be oddly incurious about the energetic, physical and nutritional modalities I’d adopted, sometimes even invented, for myself. “We don’t believe in that chi stuff”, the Chief of Neurology at Bellevue Hospital scoffed when I tried to explain how much Qipong had helped me. Instead, he simply proclaimed me a "miracle".

But I am no miracle - no more than any of us are. I am merely someone who refused to give up, and who searched relentlessly for solutions. I took responsibility for my recovery, and co-created it with others, and that is exactly what I am asking you to do if you work with me. I am not here to "fix" you. Instead, I’m here to engage in a process with you, to co-create healing, and co-engender your self-empowerment, and growth. There’s no magic to it. It requires hard work, patience, an open mind, an open heart, and a modicum of faith - or at least stubbornness.
