Hmmm… What should I tell you about me?
I’m a divorced mother of two amazing adult children, daughter a Chef and my son, a Captain in the Army. I grew up on a small personal farm in Upstate New York and have recently moved halfway across the country to "begin a new chapter".
Typical story, right? 😉
Most of my life, I’ve worked in the service industry in one form or another… toy department stock clerk, children’s lead bookseller, office support for a convenience store chain, assistant manager at a European concept restaurant, server/bartender for catering company, assistant manager at thriving small Greek restaurant, consultant for a dessert concept restaurant, teller at a bank, wedding officiant/certified wedding planner and now Wellness Coach! I love helping people!
I’ll be honest, my self esteem for most of my life was rather low. I identified in conjunction with others… “the sister of the twins”, “wife of the high school football star”, “mother of Chef (my daughter)”, “mother of the Captain (my son)” and then finally “the ex-wife”. A year ago, that changed. I was given an amazing opportunity to move halfway across the country, with a place to live, and a support system to start again. So, I hit the “pause button”. I quit my teller position at thriving bank (with growing potentials), packed up my life and moved from Western New York (home of Buffalo Wings) to Des Moines, Iowa. Yes, culture shock. I went to being all those things, “their mom”, “his ex-wife”… to anyone. Only my one friend knew me here. I could escape and heal.
In December I saw an ad for Health Coaching Institute on Google, and a week later I enrolled. It changed my life! I’ve now combined my passions for alternative healing, wedding and relationship counseling and officiating, with wellness coaching focused on habit change. Everyday now I wake with gratitude in my heart, on my lips and in my mind. I now don’t regret my past but am thankful for the lessons learned and path walked. I love listening to my clients’ stories and help them uncover the person of health hiding inside their own body.
Quite literally, last year, May 31st, 2018 was the last day of one life… and the beginning of Me!
