Spring is here! I hope you are enjoying these longer days, warmer weather, and the sweet smell of blooming flowers. Fortunately, this year's cold and flu season is behind us, but now for some, a new problem emerges.
According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, approximately 50 million people in the U.S. suffer from seasonal allergies. And with changing weather patterns, that number may increase rapidly.
One of my favorite herbal formulas many of you already take with great results is "Quercetin and Nettles". I love this formula because it balances the immune system and reduces inflammation and histamine levels, thereby preventing the uncomfortable symptoms of allergies.
In addition to this formula, any foods containing quercetin will aid in the reduction of histamine in the body. Examples are onions, garlic, berries, broccoli, yellow peppers, apples and citrus fruits. Also, anti-inflammatory foods such as green tea (especially matcha), nettles, peppermint, rosehips, turmeric and cold-water fish are all foods you can eat to keep allergies at bay.
Acupuncture can also help greatly in prevention…you don't have to suffer this season. If you find you need more help, please make an appointment for a personal treatment plan to address your individual needs.
