Ask yourself.. Does this support the life I am trying to create?

Sometimes we get into situations or emotional states that derail our purpose.. We have choices and can change our outome through positive perceptions and habits we create.

Through the use of hypnotherapy imagery techniques, the therapy assists in stimulating alpha and theta brain waves by alerting the Reticular Activating System (RAS), to incoming signals and activating the cerebral cortex and connecting your brain wave signals with your body and assisting you in altering and enhancing the process of healing within many modalities; behavioral habits.

A habit is simply a pattern of behaviour that you learnt and through repetition it became a habit. Over your lifetime you have acquired many habits; a large percentage are beneficial, helpful and empowering – we could call these positive or good habits and some that limit the quality of your life – we could call these negative or bad habits. Obviously we are not looking to change a positive habit but do you want to learn how to change a negative habit by using hypnosis?

Firstly, you must have some desire or reasons to want to change the bad habit and for wanting to create this new good habit. Once you’ve established the reasons, write them down on a piece of paper. There’s something powerful about writing down “why” you want this and it serves as a constant reminder. Write them down in big bold letters.

Now ask yourself, what’s stopping you right now? Often people will say “I just can’t find the time” or they have the “tomorrow mentality” or they say “I don’t have the willpower”

Now write down the reasons you gave yourself as to what’s stopping you. It’s easy to find a reason to support the belief that it’s something external that’s preventing you. Ultimately, if you want to create a good habit, you have to take responsibility and realise that they are simply SELF-LIMITING obstacles and your life has already had many that you have overcome.

Next go through each of the reasons as to what’s stopping you, lets say the good habit you wish to achieve is to exercise more, then ask yourself what do I need to change to be able to exercise more? Now go back to your list that you wrote down and next to each limiting reason, write down what action you can take to combat it.
Write down a plan as to when specifically you’ll be doing this good habit; how frequently; where you have to be, if there is somewhere in order to do it and formulate the plan and structure to incorporate it into your daily life.
Ask yourself, what will it look like when I get there?

This is where the hypnosis session really plays it’s part, by seeing, hearing and feeling yourself having already achieved it, you are creating mental pictures and experiences that your unconscious mind can access to motivate you. If you practice it over and over, you are hypnotising yourself to form a new pattern and set of powerful beliefs.

There is a myth frequently banded about that declares, repeating a behaviour for 21 days creates a habit. Aristotle said “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
