So you want to know what NeuroMovement is? GREAT, you are in the right place.
What is NeuroMovement®?
Let's begin by taking a look at the word itself:
Neuro = yep, it's a brain thing.
Movement = the way we access the brain
My one sentence description is:
“I talk to your brain using the language of movement.”
Movement organizes your brain. Think about it, movement is everything. There’s physical movement - either manual or automatic. There is also cognitive and emotional movement. When you are thinking you are moving from here to there with your thoughts. With emotions it is the same thing. Feelings change, that’s movement too. And so it goes… since the brain is in charge of all that we do, when we upgrade the quality of our movement (whichever kind) we upgrade the potency of our nervous systems. That’s called brain plasticity - the concept that the brain can form new neural connections.
The Anat Baniel Method® (ABM) is a learning based approach that uses neuroplasticity principles to bring about remarkable change. By engaging the brain, improving the quality of movement, and increasing awareness, NeuroMovement® provides the tools for transformation. As the brain is challenged to explore movement within a range of ease, the body is called upon to distribute the work of movement evenly, relieving chronic contractions and pain, and resulting in a system that works more effectively and efficiently. But don’t forget … upgraded physical movement translates to powerful cognitive and emotional learning too!
