We all have a guidance system. Call it intuition, divine guidance, inner wisdom or psychic abilities. Do you believe this? Have you experienced it? What ever you may call it, it's there. Some use it and trust it on a regular basis. They are comfortable and trusting of this guidance system. It normally takes practice to get to this place unless you grew up with someone encouraging you or allowing you the space to follow it. Most often we grow up being told what to do, what is the right way to do it, when to do it, what we should think and learn. Why? Because of the fear of what could happen should we get it wrong.
Fredrich Nietzche, a German philosopher said, "You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist, there is no "the way" to do anything.
There is so much pressure with someone insisting, pushing us and hounding us. With this type of pressure we lose touch with our guidance. Diogenes was a Greek philosopher who said, "Stand out of my light." I found this quote in Dr. Wayne Dyer's book I Can See Clearly Now. He expanded on the quote: Stand out of my light and let me be guided by my own vision. Perfect. How else are we to learn to listen to our inner promptings.
I'm sure most of us have had the experience of something that feels so much greater than us having guided us to safety or gotten us to the right place at the right time. Give yourself some credit here for listening and surrendering to it. Even if your part feels small.
Having more access to this guidance system takes practice. Learning to listen and to discovered how your guidance system works with you. Some people are more visual and may get pictures or images in their minds eye. They may see energy. Some people hear there guidance. Words or sentences may pop into their heads. It may be a feeling. Like a little nudge. Or just a knowing. Not really knowing how they know, just a feeling of this is the right choice or direction.
Can you think of times when you ignored one of these and later regretted it. We all have, but that's part of our learning. How did that information show up? It's like a muscle we need to train to pay attention and trust it. The more we practice the better we get at it. It becomes familiar and comfortable. This is how we develop trust.
I love it when there is something I would like to have, like the time I wanted a pond. I didn't have the money for something big and fancy. My Mother gave me some pond plants from her pond. I stuck them in a bucket and was thinking about what I could do with them. No stress, just some contemplation and creative thinking. Shortly after I was visiting a friend who had a pond and I commented on how I would love one. Well...she had an extra liner that she gave me. She had replaced her's thinking it was leaking. Turned out that wasn't the problem. She gifted me the old liner. Yeah!!! I was thrilled. Was this guidance? I was in the right place at the right time to receive. I give credit to my guides and inner wisdom for helping me to fulfill that longing.
There are times we seek out the opinions and advice of others. There are times when it is needed. I believe the best guidance from another is when it helps you to reconnect with your own inner wisdom. Don't give away your power. Take responsibility for your choices, even when you do give away your power. It is all about learning. You learn what it feels like to blindly follow others, then you learn to listen to your own inner wisdom.
Be loving and patient with yourself. It takes time and practice.
