Will acupuncture help with nerve damage?

As an integrative practitioner, I'm passionate about creating a deep, fluid connection between the body, mind and spirit.

This is a great question, and it has a multi-layered answer. Ultimately, yes, acupuncture can be very beneficial, however one of the first things to look at is the root cause of the nerve damage. Depending on whether it's due to an injury, a medication, an underlying metabolic imbalance such as diabetes, etc. will dictate the most effective treatment. If someone was suffering from neuropathy due to a nutrient deficiency, acupuncture would certainly help with some of the symptoms, but addressing the underlying cause of the deficiency would be a key aspect in getting it to fully resolve. Acupuncture can absolutely be an effective treatment, but more information on the case of the damage would be beneficial in order to achieve the best outcome.

It depends on the case - the nerves involved and the degree of damage. An acupuncturist would be better able to assess in person. In general, acupuncture can help with neuropathy.

For example, one study showed that acupuncture helped nerve conduction in peripheral neuropathy (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17355547).
