Do you often suffer from allergies? What do you do when you have one? Here are some ways to get relief and lessen the discomfort caused by allergies.

Seasonal Allergies

During spring season and when everything is blooming, including people’s allergies! Mine included. My eyes have been so itchy. Yikes!

So why do some people get allergies and others don’t? Doesn’t seem fair, does it?

Allergies are your immune system overreacting to something that doesn’t bother others. Seasonal allergies (also called hay fever or allergic rhinitis) are a reaction to pollen from plants.

Sneezing, coughing, a runny or stuffy nose and itching in the eyes, nose, mouth, and throat are all signs of allergies. Many patients come to see me not knowing if they have a cold or allergies. The easiest way to tell is the color of the mucus. Is it clear or yellow/green? If it’s not clear, it’s an infection.

What can you do about it?

Neti or Saline Rinse

Use a neti pot or saline spray daily. Neti pots and saline rinses are not for when you get a cold or when you have a stuffy nose. The daily practice of rinsing out the nasal hairs is how it is most effective. When you have clean nasal hairs, your nose will be more effective at keeping out the allergens in the first place. It is a good way to get relief from allergy or avoid it altogether.

Researchers in Thailand found that 30 minutes of exercise can reduce allergy symptoms. The hypothesis is that this relief occurs because exercise produces an anti-inflammatory effect in your nasal passages, helping to naturally reduce allergy symptoms. If pollen counts are high, then exercise indoors.

Yes, it helps with allergies too. It relaxes the

In some cases, allergies are a result of an imbalance in the immune system. This can cause an extreme reaction to allergens such as pollen, dust, and grass. In addition to taking USANA probiotics, you can eat kimchi, sauerkraut, or kombucha daily for additional relief from allergies.

Nutrition and Diet

You may need to change your diet and take some common allergens out of your system to give your body a chance to fight off the allergy attacks. The most common foods that cause problems are sugar, dairy, gluten, corn, and soy. Try taking them out for a couple of weeks and see if that help. Also, remember to take your nutritional supplements daily to boost your immune system and reduce inflammation.

Yep. It helps with allergy symptoms too. If you’re not sure how much to drink to feel fully hydrated try my trick. Drink 4 oz of water every 30 minutes for 8 hours. It’s best to drink small glasses throughout the day rather than a couple of large glasses every few hours.

I can’t get relief from allergies from these!

If you are doing all of this and still suffering, then perhaps you need to take some herbs. I always suggest herbal formulas before reaching for some other medication. Don’t get me wrong, if you are suffering and NOTHING else has worked, then do whatever you need to feel better.

I have found a formula that I love and has been super effective with allergy symptoms and found to be more effective than Claritin and has no drowsiness side effects. It’s from Designs for Health and it’s called HistaEze. It’s designed to alleviate allergy symptoms by inhibiting the release of histamine but also designed to address the cause of allergies.

HistaEze includes quercetin, nettle extract and Vitamin C, which all have antihistamine effects and have been used for years to manage and get relief from allergies.

HistaEze also contains Tinofend, which is derived from the plant Tinospora cordifolia and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine since the early 1900s. Tinofend is unique in that it increases the number of phagocytic white blood cells, including macrophages, which help consume and rid the body of allergens! It also reduces the number of cells that contain histamine.

In a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial, 100% relief from sneezing in 83% of patients that took Tinofend was reported! Improvements were also reported in nasal discharge and nasal itching.

Lastly, HistaEze contains bicarbonate salts, which are included due to their role as IMMEDIATE antihistamines!

If you’d like to try HIstaEze, let me know. I can ship it directly to you or, if you’re a patient, I can make sure I have some in stock for your next treatment.

Have a great week. Donna
