How does one decide what therapies to seek out for cancer?

I am really fortunate in my life because my family and I have not been touched by cancer. In preparation, I want to know how I can offer helpful advice and guide those i love in the right direction.

As a breast cancer survivor and an Oncology Massage Therapist I believe that helping others find resources outside of traditional cancer treatments is highly beneficial. I fully believe in allopathic medicine such as radiation and chemotherapy for those who choose it, but I found when I was going through surgery and various treatments that each area is highly specialized (a plus from a medical perspective for sure). Sometimes the whole person involved can get lost in the focus on various aspects of the disease. Services like Nancy’s List, Mend After Cancer, and organizations such as the Society for Oncology Massage can help you find practitioners and services available for the person going through treatment as well as caregivers. Often you can buy gift certificates and share information as well. I hope that you personally remain untouched by cancer but love that you care enough to be prepared to help if called.

Your Life Does Not Get Better By Chance, It Gets Better By Change.

Cancer is a very personal journey and different for everyone. It may include conventional medicine or alternative therapies or Both. Highly recommend reading Radical Remission by Kelly Turner.

Eating well means choosing the right nutrient dense foods the earth has to offer.

Hi
I highly recommend this resource :

Ralph Moss is a cancer researcher/ expert who has combed the scientific literature to find the best of conventional and alternative medicine for hundreds of types of cancer. Remember— cancer is not just one disease, but many different diseases. There are many variables to consider in each case. I always start by having my clients get this report, which we then review together.

I believe that each individual is unique and has the potential to heal from any disease! One thing that has helped many clients I work with is to change to a plant-based diet (as much as you can) to prevent and treat cancer. Anyone going through the diagnostic phase needs to find support networks and therapeutic groups/individual sessions to help with the grief or loss (loss of self as we know it) and face our fears (fear of death/mortality). Combining treatments and committing to changes in life styles (healthier habits) will make a big difference. And the best help in my opinion is to really connect with the divinity within! The awareness that we are one with the creator! All healing comes from finding a way back to the "source" through faith and unconditional love!

BETTER FOOD, BETTER MOOD We'll help you connect the dots.

Hi Rorie -- As a 5 year survivor of breast cancer I work with therapeutic diets for cancer prevention & survivorship. Cancer is as unique as each individual it invades. What may work for one may not work for another. I went with conventional medicine route of chemo, surgery and radiation because that was all I knew. But then my diet was pretty good and varied and I think it went a long way in supporting me to thrive thru the treatment. So I certified as a Nutritional Therapist Practitioner with a special interest in cancer survivorship and mental health and wellness. No one promises you a cure - not even conventional medicine - however what was important to me was the quality of life thru treatment and after. I had a naturopath on my team of caregivers, I had a medical oncologist team and I had family supporting me with healthy food and stress free living. I feel doing the research about the root cause for a particular cancer and adopting therapies that will address the root cause is the best way to approach making a decision for an appropriate cause. No one therapy is going to be enough -- together therapies like nutritional therapy, homeopathy, naturopathy, allopathy and essential oils, and working on the mental and emotional quotient of wellbeing have a powerful impact. Your loved ones are lucky to have you in their lives for you are taking the initiative to look at a larger picture and provide solutions holistically. Just remember "never to make a decision based on fear" -- being well informed of your options in advance is an all important to not be fearful of any diagnosis or prognosis. Wishing you continued good health.
