What are some good "rules of thumb" to practice mindfulness more effectively throughout my day?

I find it helpful to have some "anchors" worked into my routine. For example, I have a morning ritual and an evening ritual that ensure I'm starting and ending the day with mindfulness. In between, I've scheduled several alarms to pop on my phone to remind me to check in with myself and where my head is.

A gratitude practice either when you wake up or go to sleep can help rewire your brain towards mindfulness, or a journaling practice. When I am feeling stressed, tense or my mind is off doing it's own thing I like to take a 3 slow, deep breaths to recenter, imagining tension melting out of my body on the exhales.
