I am a Nuad Thai (Northern Style) Massage instructor and practitioner living in Tucson, AZ.
Nuad Thai is heavily influenced by both Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine due to Thailands proximity to India and China. The Northern (Chiang Mai) Style is slower with a deep focus on stretching. Yoga from India has a greater influence. The Southern (Bangkok) Style utilizes more pressure and pressure points with less focus on stretching. TCM and acupressure from China has a. greater influence.
Traditionally, Nuad Thai is a fully-clothed massage, practiced on a mat, with focus on yoga-like stretches and acupressure. One unique quality of this Healing Art is the rhythm (1 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 1 / soft - medium - soft / in - out - in). The rhythm refers to both placement of a limb and the pressure applied. Before and after using direct pressure, the area is relaxed with soft pressure or broad strokes. The same principle is applied when working "SenEnergy Lines."
Similar to TCM, Nuad Thai is considered "energy work" and thus ailments are caused by blockages along energy pathways called "Sen Energy Lines," similar to Chinese Meridians.

Any diet can help support weight loss, if you're in a caloric deficit and you're able to adhere to it consistently. So, it's not critical that you do Keto, specifically, to see results, and in fact, for many, the Keto diet is difficult to follow because it is so limiting and prevents many from actually getting into Ketosis.
If you're open to suggestion, to support weight loss, you'll want to make sure that you're simply eating in a caloric deficit. This can be difficult to have exact math around, but you can start by taking your body weight and multiplying by 13. So, if you weigh 150, you can start with 1950 total calories per day and see what happens. If you're losing between 0.5-1 pound per week, that's perfect! If it's much more or much less than that, adjust your calories by 50 either way until you get to that rate of loss.
And, as mentioned above, sustainability and consistency with whatever food plan you choose is KEY! Being able to adhere to it on a regular basis is what is key to long term success. For many, this means purposely including foods they enjoy, as opposed to limiting entire food groups, as Keto tends to do.
Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out with any other questions!
Begin with 8 ounces of water, meditate, incorporate a gratitude practice, create your day by setting a goal or intention for the day, move your body, and eat a healthy breakfast.
There is no magic way of achieving a flat belly. There are a lot of parameters that we need to consider before focussing on targeted weight loss. one approach may not work for another body type. It's really important to focus on overall health and well-being. I suggest you work with a health coach so they keep you accountable and help you achieve your goal in a sustainable way.
The MIND diet is a combination of Mediterranean and DASH diets. It focuses on a balance of healthy eating along with increasing antioxidant consumption and less sodium intake. It has been shown in preliminary research as well to delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

Hi there! The first step in resolving childhood trauma (or any wounding, pain, or trauma from the past) is awareness. You are aware and now you are seeking resolution. Next step, is acknowledgement. When seeking practitioners and modalities to support your healing, you may want to consider "how can I create a safe space to acknowledge what is here and what is coming up in my body and mind?".
Network Spinal is a non-traditional chiropractic approach that creates a safe space in the nervous system for trauma to be acknowledged and integrated. When trauma occurs, the nervous system binds the energy and information from the experience into the body. This can create a sense of stuckness, where the body is operating from the past wounding rather than present moment experience. Network Spinal helps the body shift into present moment, expand resourcefulness to be able to feel, heal, and integrate stress and trauma. There are practitioners across the globe, so if you are interested, we can connect you with someone near you.
Somatic therapy is another great option. Any practitioner that is nervous-system based and guides you to experience healing on a body-level will be key to sustainable outcomes. You ultimately have everything within you to resolve childhood trauma... the more you can create safety in the body and nervous system, acknowledge and express what comes up for you, and have tools to come back to your body again and again, you will certainly move through it and become stronger and more free as a result.
Doing breathing exercises help to increase energy, as does a brisk walk and some stretching with breathing. Building energy is something that is multifaceted and stems from your emotional health, physical health, toxic load, and endocrine balance. Food plays a big part in how your energy gets cultivated.
Working with a provider who can do a thorough intake, understand your history and physiology, do a physical exam and order thyroid labs including at least (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4) is an important place to start if you are concerned you may have hyperthyroidism?
Depends on your body type, do you have back issues, what's the balance in your spine. Your alignment is so critical and should be factored in when determining what exercises to use to strengthen the needed muscle groups.
All the classic rotator cuff exercises are good. You can do them with bands. You want to work internal as well as external rotation and work from a variety of angles. While doing the classic opening and closing the door ones with your arm at a 90 degree angle, squeeze a towel between your elbow and your body. This will help you maintain the correct alignment but will also strengthen the RC muscles as a whole in their task of keeping the head of the humerus bone securely in the socket- which is precisely your goal.
Look on YouTube for exercises. You'll find tons. Or come work with me! It's important that your shoulders, head and spine are aligned correctly for them to be effective. If there are issues with that you may need to work on those things first, or at least understand how to do it all at once.
Good luck! Hope this helps.
Matcha is way better for aiding with acid reflux but, I would recommend also listening to your body. I second the MCT oil as it is highly absorbable. I would try some essential oil like Digestzen blend or (Ginger, Fennel, Coriander, Peppermint).
Lot's of great books. Try www.mountainroseherbs.com
Real maple syrup has a lot more natural minerals and vitamins - if you're looking for the most nutrient dense you'll want B grade - or "dark".
Make sure that when you eat, you are focused on eating more than anything else. I like to pick a number (lets say 20) and I try to chew each bite 20 times during my meal. I usually end up filling myself up faster than I usually would.
While your stomach does the hard work of digesting, your body releases enzymes in your saliva that assist in the breakdown of food (such as starches/carbs/sugars). That being said, chewing is a very important part of eating that both prepares your stomach for digestion, and makes the act of digesting much easier.
When you chew your food thoroughly, your body spends less energy on digesting and in turn you may see an increase in energy throughout the day.
Happy eating!
Not all mindfulness practices will resonate with you! Don't feel like you are a failure if you have difficulty with particular practices, like attending to your breath. For example, many people have difficult with breath practice if they have anxiety, trauma or breathing issues. Find practices that pique your curiosity. If you feel overwhelmed, that's a sign that practice is not helpful for you.
As a chiropractor, I often tell my own patients this is not a good idea.
Even though you may feel better for a moment over time, this action is usually causing more problems.
Often times, the vertebra above or below the one that "pops" is actually stuck, and the one that is popping is moving even more with time, causing more joint issues over time.
Many of my own patients after getting adjusted often state back they no longer have the need or desire to "pop" on their own.
Absolutely not!
Although there are some research studies that indicate there is a genetic component to spine and joint health, genetics are not 100% responsible for back pain.
If you are concerned you may develop back pain some things you can do to keep your spine healthy: exercise regularly (strength and cardio), learn proper lifting mechanics, set your work space up for ergonomic success, learn how to move your body (Pilates, Yoga, etc.), eat a healthy diet, weight management, and have a good supportive (firm) mattress.
I love this question because I believe that prevention is the best way to approach back pain (and overall health in general)!
