What is your sleep hygiene?
1. Turn off your electronics (no screen time) 2 hours before bedtime.
2. No caffeine after noon. Caffeine stays in your body 18 hours.
3. Spend time outdoors during the day. Get melatonin naturally.
4. Dim your lights before bedtime. Try Lulling Movements and Guided Natural Breathing® and you may fall asleep.
If you are interested in the Sounder Sleep System®, please contact me and we can work together.
Hello, That is a great question. I always recommend you talk to your Doctor before beginning any exercises. Yes it is safe to exercise while pregnant. When you are in your first trimester most exercises are doable as long as they are comfortable to you. As you progress into the second and third trimesters you want your exercises to be low impact aerobics exercises. Walking and swimming are great and considered safe. Enjoy being your beautiful FIT mom.
Jasmine, birth is traumatic for all of us and having a home birth could be advantageous as long as you have a really good midwife, there are no complications and the home environment is relaxed, loving and feels safe. I had a client who had her first child at home. Unfortunately, she allowed her mother to come for the birth and it stressed her out so much that she was in labor for 10 hours. She called me in desperation because she "couldn't push anymore." I do distance healing, so I tapped in and calmed her down. The baby was born within minutes. Just a story to help you to understand that being relaxed and having loving, supportive people around you is important. That being said, there are many birthing centers around with great facilities and wonderful staff. A newborn child is best served by being born into a loving, caring environment.
Not sure that this really answers your question, but felt that this information would be helpful to you.
Hi Jasmine,
It can! And Margaret's article is great!
The Upledger Institute has been studying how CranioSacral Therapy can effect Autistic folks (or folks with Autism Spectrum Disorder— saving a discussion on identity-first language for another time) for many years now and has proven it an effective treatment for relaxing the individual and allowing them a feeling of greater ease with the world around them. CranioSacral Therapy directly releases restrictions in the structures of the head and spine, nourishing the central nervous system. It's also non-invasive and can be practiced in small increments at the leisure and comfort of the client.

Yes. I am Pagan. We have a rich history of work with death and dying. I am hoping to complete my training in October.
What a great question and the simple answer is YES!
One effective approach is the Elimination Diet. This is a 30-day commitment to eliminating inflammatory foods followed by a reintroduction of those foods, one at a time, while tracking any reactions. This diet not only decreases inflammation, it also gives the body a chance to heal and enhances your awareness to foods that have an inflammatory effect on your unique body :)
Through diet you can alleviate inflammation FIRST by eliminating certain foods from your diet. Foods like dairy, gluten, corn, soy, alcohol, pork, and sugar are commonly known to cause inflammatory symptoms. And SECOND, adding anti-inflammatory foods can also help alleviate leaky gut. Some examples are berries, fatty fish, broccoli, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and green tea.
I wouldn't say either is "better." However, based on what you are looking for, one may be more appropriate. I am trained in Transpersonal Psychology , which is Jungian based. Why I chose that route is Jungian psychology views the person through a lens of wholeness as opposed to parts. Jung also explored the collective unconscious as well as our dream state. I have gained tremendous insight studying Jungian psychology due to it's holistic approach. For me, Freudian psychology is similar to the "medical model" and Jungian psychology is similar to the "holistic model."
Getting to the root cause of a condition can indeed be tricky but one of the reasons why an elimination diet can be so helpful to so many is because it often alleviates damage and inflammation from foods you are sensitive to and/or are working against gut health. While I don't think a particular food item would be the root cause of your disease, there could definitely be foods that helped create a situation where your digestive system was compromised, which is often a root cause for so many of our modern day health issues.
Eliminating some of the main nutritional stressors and then boosting healing foods could be very helpful in your healing journey. As you slowly add foods back you will find which ones your body isn't ready for.
daily morning meditation in the morning is my favorite
Patience in key in anything you want to learn.
This depends on the skill level and experience of the PT. I have been involved with high quality PTs that know much about Oly lifts, and had experience with PTs who poorly understand the necessary differences. You have to find someone who matches your ideals.
potatoes, eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes are the 'biggies'
I recommend cleansing enemas often for my clients with chronic constipation. The bowels must be removing wastes from the body regularly for toxic material to be eliminated. Good health is difficult unless there is consistent elimination.
Therefore, if there is a compelling reason one cannot (will not?) successfully perform an enema I suggest colon hydrotherapy. It is a pleasant alternative to home enemas.
In addition, a colon hydrotherapist can instill water higher and further in the bowel than the typical home enema plus there is no need to get up to go to the toilet - the hydrotherapy equipment removes water and waste.
It is also informative to have a trained hydrotherapist examine the results of the enema as it passes through the exit tube. They may see excessive mucus, small hard fecal material, etc. They also have a sense of how much pressure is needed to reach certain parts of the colon which gives more information about bowel health.
I wouldn't hesitate to see a colon hydrotherapist since you don't have to commit to regular visits if they are truly not necessary. Experience it and see how your body feels compared to home enemas then you'll know if you should continue.
BTW - the best resolution for constipation is to explore 'WHY' the bowels are not functioning optimally before heading off to do enemas. I've learned over the many years I've been working with clients that the core issue is usually mental/emotional. "Can't let go" , "holding on to some wound" or some "dirty business, malicious slander, mean accusation, etc." An examination of when the problem started is helpful in pinpointing the triggering incident or incidents. Awareness and resolution of the "triggering conflict" is essential to supporting the restoration of normal bowel function.
I believe the short answer is a loose yes. There are many specialties within the world of massage therapy such as Neuromuscular massage, Lymphatic massage, Craniosacral, Chi Nei Tsang, Somatic Therapy, Nuad Thai, etc.
The longer answer is it depends. Not all people with the same credentials will be able to help in the same way. Just because someone has more years of experience does not necessarily mean they are more advanced in their practice.
The easiest way for one to find someone that specializes in any condition is to ask the therapist directly. If they do not work with a specific condition, they may be able to point you to another who does.
Everyone experiences the work differently and it also depends on the area of the body being worked on. It's not "fluffy" work in any sense but it is Very slow and specific. Part of what makes this modality unique and effective, is that its performed as a collaboration between the client and the therapist which tends to leave the client feeling empowered after their session. Beyond the obvious improvements in posture, symmetry and range of motion, this process also acts to unlock the otherwise unconscious cellular memory related to various injuries, trauma, etc.
As others have stated here, the depth of state that the hypnotherapist takes you into should be appropriate for the type of work they are facilitating. With the exception of some longer verbal inductions, the process is typically an interactive dynamic between hypnotherapist and client, making it difficult to go to sleep. An attentive hypnotherapist will be tuned into your state and talk a little louder or more firmly if they need to bring your state up a bit.
That being said, sometimes a client may have an inner part that checks out during the process. Meaning that part of them doesn't want to work on what we are trying to work on and it causes them to blank out or drift off (not asleep but dissociated). In this case it may require speaking directly to that part and doing some parts therapy to get it on board.
You can however definitely get a great nights sleep after a quality hypnotherapy session!

There are so many different types of yoga to practice! The first step is finding out what they are interested in and what they feel comfortable with. Many yoga practices involve getting onto the ground; if that isn't realistic for your grandparents I recommend chair yoga. It is a safe and effective way to build strength, increase mobility, and focus on breathing and posture. Another option is yin yoga or restorative yoga. These involve more prolonged holds and utilize props to help support the body in the various positions. A great place to start is having a yoga instructor that is understanding and comfortable working with on older population and can cater the class to their goals and needs. I am a physical therapist and a yoga teacher in Denver, CO but I also do private Zoom yoga classes - I am happy to consult! :)
I think the response to this questions depends on why you are doing an elimination diet. But to truly determine how foods affect you, keep as many factors the same as you can while changing one thing at a time. Alternatively, should you choose to follow more of a whole30 style diet that eliminates more than 1 thing, be sure to add one thing back in at a time. Wait 3 days before adding in another food. This allows you to begin to uncover how certain foods might impact how you feel.
I would recommend a Naturopathic or Holistic doctor (MD / ND). Adrenal fatigue can be accompanied with various symptoms and side affects and it is important to be able to monitor them with bloodwork if necessary.
